The WildFly Fishing series launched in 2005 to broadcast the incredible destinations that are to be found on our planet, using the catch and release medium of fly fishing as a means to highlight the waterways of our world.

Contracted initially for Supersport and subsequently ESPN International and the World Fishing Network , we can now reach 37.2 Million decoders spanning 104 countries in five continents worldwide.

Each show is fortunate enough to enjoy multiple flightings-:

1. In Africa it airs a minimum of six times over a two week period on Supersport 1 with repeats on alternative Supersport channels.

2. In North America and Canada on WFN it enjoys a total of 12 repeats every fortnight.

3. Through ESPN International, we reach out across the oceans on a Saturday / Sunday morning when the aspiring traveller is tuning out of their working week.

It is prime time television, spanning the full spectrum of scheduling opportunities.

Alphonse

Season 4 - Episode 4

Described by Jacques Cousteau as one of the last sanctuaries on our planet, it doesn’t take a lot of imagination to see why the outer islands of Seychelles have spawned more stories than the prolific fish populations that it protects. Join the Wildfly team as they explore this sanctuary and
even target the elusive Milkfish, to round off the multitude of species that Alphonse Island has to offer.


Farquhar

Season 4 - Episode 3

In the most southerly part of the Seychelles lies a 170 square kilometer game fish haven, the atoll and lagoon of Farqhuar - discovered in 1501, much to the delight of the fanatical fly fishers who migrate here for the summer season. The flats of outlying coral atolls are the marine equivalent of the great plains of Africa and they are home to a vast variety of fish species. Watch the Wildfly team take them on fly. 


New Zealand

Season 4 - Episode 2

The reputation of New Zealand fishing is world renowned and consequently every angler who has the incurable fishing pox makes his pilgrimage to this holy land of trout. The lakes of North Island and the legendary Tongariro river, house an impressive array of browns and rainbows, as wild as they are unique in their coloration. Join us on an unforgettable trip to the world’s trout capital, for the World Fly Fishing Championships in New Zealand.

Season 4 - Episode 1

From it’s source in the highlands of Zambia, the Zambezi River carves a path stretching two and a half thousand kilometers, creating a natural wonder that is the worlds largest waterfall. There’s a number of ways that you can enjoy this vast river system but one could argue that the only way to truly experience your surrounds is to take your house with you- and this is exactly what we did. Join us as we explore the Zambezi on some of the best houseboats that Southern Africa has to offer.

Stretching some 1000km from its highest peaks in Lesotho, demarcating Kwa-Zulu Natal and the Eastern Cape, the Drakensburg escarpment is an area infested with trout, and it houses one of the most prodigeous populations of rainbow and brown trout that you'll find anywhere in Africa - Which was the only reason the Wildfly team needed to tackle up and traverse this breathtaking landscape to land a few prized trout. 


National Fly Fishing Champs

Season 3 - Episode 25

When you put any number of fly fishing strangers together in pursuit of the same goal, you're sure to see the rivalry run rampant. The venue for the Wildfly National Fly Fishing Championships was the renowned wine belt of South Africa, mimicking European conditions as much as below the equator can produce on the freestone streams of the Western Cape.


Corporate Trophy Challenge Final - 2007

Season 3 - Episode 20

Reaching this stage of South Africa’s premier fly fishing competition has been for many a feat in itself and the lads have certainly earned their return invite to the The Hyundai Corporate Trophy Final 2007. Lake Le Seuer is a remarkable piece of water, and regardless of an anglers experience this lake has the ability to frustrate and confound the best. This is where the final takes place as teams from across the country battle it out to win a fly fishing trip of a lifetime to New Zealand.


Bells Kamberg 2007

Season 3 - Episode 19

The Drakensberg mountain range towers over Wildfly country, and its waters feed and preside over the patrons who take the time to indulge their favorite pastime. Trout fishing may for some be a game of cat and mouse, and fortunately for the trout at the 2007 Kamberg Bells Festival, once caught, unless a trophy, it’s back to toy with another day. Watch as the competitors of this year’s competition take on the trout that these top quality fly waters have to offer. 

 


Best of the Best - Part 3

Season 3 - Episode 18

To say it’s been an eventful year would be like describing our winning the world cup as a mild entertainment. There’s not a lot than can compare, but the Wildfly team have had a few moments that rank right up there! Join them as they journey to the ‘Garden of Eden’ that is Alphonse and St Francios, as well as the island paradise of Matemo and  Medjumbe, the unexplored waters of Southern Angola and back home to take on the tigers of Jozini and trophy trout of the Natal Midlands. Situated on a 30 square kilometer lagoon of the Mhlatuze river, Richards Bay is South Africa’s largest harbour. Although fishing within this area is very restricted, Wildfly has earned an invitation to explore the diversity of species that this ecosystem has to offer. The road to the Hyundai Corporate Trophy Challenge 2006 had been smooth sailing for some. They sauntered into Nottingham Road and slayed the water, catching fish in every session. Those who made it to the final are back to conquer the 194 acre Lake Le Sueur.
